Resolutions for a New Year
On Wednesday, Slaughter Development presented the first session in the 2010 Productivity Series. The program for this month was “How NOT to Make New Years Resolutions at Work” and the slides are now available here on The Methodology Blog.
The presentation outlines the psychology and best practices of how we make changes (direct link):
Creating a list of New Year’s Resolutions that are vague and undefined is not such an uncommon process for many people. Unfortunately, what we find once the new year begins is that the immense laundry list of goals, though derived from good intentions, becomes daunting in terms of accomplishment. Yet, as was covered on Wednesday, by utilizing the six-step formula where goals are defined with process-minded thinking and contain meaningful measureables, reaching your destination may not be as difficult as once thought.
What cannot be stressed enough is the importance of the process which is performed to attain the ending result. For it is this process that changes behavior and assists in maintaining the continual motivation and improvement of yourself and your business.
The next program in the 2010 Productivity Series is The Battle for Your Inbox: Managing Email Productively. The event takes place on Wednesday, February 3rd at 2:00PM. Register today!
